About

We all need space for reflection, but in our current always moving, always changing world, there is always an excuse or a distraction or Something More Important.  I am here to remind you (and myself!) that there is an abundance in the Universe, that the Most Benevolent Spirit exists to fill the Space In Between.

The Space In Between is where the magic happens, where we find grace and creativity and love.

I invite you to share in my musings and join in the search for your own Selah, your own place to pause.

I serve as Assistant Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville, in Asheville, NC.  This is my personal blog, and is not affiliated with the church.  If you’re interested in our congregation’s social justice work, and the blog we use to explore who and how we are as a justice-seeking congregation, look here.

I am an artist and an activist, with a slight tendency toward rabble-rousing, but ultimately, I seek to find the points of connection in life.  I am particularly interested in studying the intersection of the Arts, Theology and Healing, as well as the ways in which our personal quest for wholeness and healing can contribute to the re-membering of the world.  Embodiment, sustainable living, eco-feminism, Jungian archetypes, mysticism and all kinds of poetry are just a few of the things that whet my considerable appetite for new information and reflection.  I am committed to the dynamic and life-changing potential of Unitarian Universalism, and feel truly blessed to be able to serve our faith in a professional capacity.

I come to Asheville via Wisconsin, Maryland, Ohio, New Mexico, Virginia, New York, New Hampshire, Boston, MA, and most recently, York, PA!  A graduate of Oberlin College and Andover Newton Theological School, I was co-ordained by First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist, in Northborough, MA and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax in June of 2008.  My trusty dog Maia (who is now quite practiced at gracing the minister’s office with her presence), and I currently reside in West Asheville, sharing our home with my lovely wife Cindy, who is a student at Lancaster Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, so she’s not here as much as we would like.  Soon and very soon, though, she will graduate and return to North Carolina full-time.  Maia can’t wait!

  1. I loved reading your blog–especially the U-tube article about the elephant and the dog. I was laughing and crying simultaneously.

    Thank you for sharing that!
